Update on Glendon College

On May 29, 2026, President Sue Ferguson and Past President Jan Schlee met with Glendon Principal Marco Fiola to discuss recent rumours about changes being proposed for Glendon College. Marco provided us with information about budget constraints at York/Glendon, resulting in a proposal that may change the bilingual academic program at Glendon. He pointed out that this proposal is at the discussion stage and that these things move at “academic” speed (very slowly).

Our classes will convene in September, as planned. The Board will keep you informed when more information is available as Faculty Council discussions progress.

LLIR course becomes a book: Saving Toronto

A course about Toronto offered to Living and Learning in Retirement (LLIR) members at Glendon College proves there’s life after lecture. The positive response to the classes, delivered by urban designer Ken Greenberg and former Conference Board of Canada CEO Anne Golden – plus eight guest lecturers – prompted all 10 to help turn the course material into a book. Saving Toronto: 10 City Builders Tell Us How was launched at Toronto City Hall Council Chambers in April. Read more.
