Registration Policy

The Board establishes the maximum number of members that may be registered each year. Registration for the coming year opens early in the winter term. Members are notified by email and on the website homepage when registration is open. Registration is done online through the LLIR website.

Course Registration

  • You can take only register for one course each term. We do not have the capacity to let members attend both morning and afternoon lectures in the same term.
  • LLIR assigns places in courses based on your years of seniority (membership in LLIR).
  • Members must select at least two course offerings (1st and 2nd choices) when registering for an upcoming term. To ensure we can give you a course of your choice, we strongly recommend that you also indicate 3rd and 4th choices for each term.
  • A fee is charged for each course, in addition to the annual membership fee, during the registration process.
  • As a courtesy to fellow members, please do not register for a course for a term during which you plan to be away for more than 4 weeks.
  • Course assignments cannot be changed except in extenuating circumstances recognized solely at the discretion of the Registrar.
  • After registration for members is complete, invitations to register are issued to waitlist applicants in chronological order (i.e. first on, first off).

Assistance is provided during the membership renewal and course registration process for anyone wanting help with the registration process or payment.

Course assignments can be seen under My Profile/View my Courses in the member homepage menu bar. If you don’t receive a course assignment email by the end of May after registering, contact the Registrar at registrar@llirto.ca.

Refunds

Membership and course fees are not refundable.

Leaves of Absence

  • Members may apply for a leave of absence (LOA) if they do not wish to register for a course in both the fall and winter terms for a given academic year.
  • During an LOA year, you must pay the annual membership fee.
  • An LOA year does not count as a year of seniority.
  • Members are allowed a maximum of three LOA years during their tenure as an LLIR member.
  • LOA is not available to new members.
